CITY PORT

[ CITIES PORT - WORLDWIDE ]

[ DOCTORATE ]

The discontinuity of the port areas is the element presented mainly in the cities of the post-industrial period, through the various economic structures that caused the disintegration of their spatial reality. Problems of functionality and scrapping of infrastructures originate from this period, as occurs in large European ports, such as: service equipment, connection networks, commercial areas or urban activities that are no longer interacting with the urban fabric.

The city / port, despite being contextualized as the fragmented territory of great concern throughout the 1970s, is undoubtedly the strategic element for economic incorporation, the emergence and invention of new market strategies. The seafront is treated as the urban continuity of a city that at a certain moment denies its relationship with the sea front, with no new means of transport being incorporated to supply its territory, specifically by air, rail or road, a fact noticeable throughout the second half of the 20th century.
